Whole Geode

Geodes are rocks with a secret. The exterior of the most common geodes is generally limestone or a related rock, but inside is a sparkly quartz crystal or chalcedony deposits. Geodes have internal crystal formations or concentric banding. Some types of geodes, called nodules, are filled with crystals. Place a geode inside a bag or old sock and hit it with a hammer to break it open and reveal what's inside. A favorite party favor or activity!
